Customers with Monthly and Annual season tickets who no longer require them can obtain a refund by returning the season ticket to the point of purchase. A refund will be provided based on date that the season ticket is surrendered and the tickets expiry date. A £10.00 administration charge is applicable under The National Conditions Of Carriage. Because of the discounts applied to Annual Season Tickets they have no refund value after approximately 10 months.
There must be at least seven days remaining on a monthly or longer Season Ticket, or at least three days remaining on a 7-Day Season Ticket to obtain a refund (although on some 7-Day Season Tickets there may be no refund value after three days of use, dependent upon the relevant Anytime Day Return price.
Where did you purchase the season ticket?
If you purchased your season ticket from another train operator or third party retailer such as trainline you will need to contact them directly in order to obtain a refund. Northern can only offer refunds on season ticket that we have sold.
