Suspended service quality audits
Between 17 March and 8 June Northern Rail Limited, in agreement with Rail North Partnership, suspended service quality audits. This was due to Coronavirus restrictions affecting our staff’s ability to undertake their inspections safely.
Whilst Northern where not auditing during this period, we were working hard to make improvements, where possible, at our stations whilst foot traffic was low.
Following a review of government guidance we have since re-commenced our station service quality assessments. To keep our assessors safe, we support them not touching any surfaces and to complete the audits visually.
Data from these assessments will be published after our teams have finalised both in-station and on-train audits later this year.
What about on train audits?
For the time being, our train audits will remain on hold until we can safely resume later this year.
Rest assured our cleaning teams have been working hard ensuring our trains are thoroughly cleaned. We have a robust cleaning regime and employ more than 400 dedicated cleaning staff across the north of England who, at the moment, are supported by colleagues from elsewhere in the business. You can read more about our additional cleaning measure in our COVID FAQs.
